Increase video quality in VideoLogger

Increasing the video quality will require more drive space store the video in the system. Please ensure you have enough free space before proceeding.

Example:

On a 60 day Videologger, recording at 512K , each 1 hour video clip is around 240 MBs. We calculate the space needed for 60 days and install the correct size hard drives so when the list is full, there is still 15% of drive space left . If the compression rate doubles to 1024K, the size of each one hour clip would be 550 MB....around twice the size.....so, only half the days would fit before the list is full making a 60 day Logger into a 30 day.....or a 30 day into a 15 day.

In order to increase the quality and log the same number of days you would need a larger RAID array ( hard drives) to write the data to. There is an option on the Videologger to duplicate . This takes a copy of the files and duplicates it to another computer or array on the network while the Videologger is recording.  If you could put a Tera byte or two online, the Videologger could increase their quality and only hold half the number of days, but , the network drive would hold 60 or 90 days all depends on how large it is.  In this scenario the clients would then access all files on the larger array.  You can use Windows Media server to give users shared access point.  The video can then be played with Windows Media Player.
