2008 Server 64 bit- Unable to play or stream  audio from AudioFile Player.

2008 Server can be installed with no MP3 player mime type in its registry.  This results in the server not knowing what kind of file an MP3 is.

In this case, workstations would be unable to play an Mp3 file or stream, not that we would want to play audio right on the server, but this is an important fact.

If it cannot play an Mp3, it is because the operating system (server) cannot identify it when asked by a client workstation.

The solution :   Either install a player like Media Player to get the codec and registry entry, or input the following Key in the Registry .

On 2008 server , if its only role is File services ( not Application ), it may not have the Entry for the Content Type regarding the .Mp3 mime type.

From HKLocal Machine / Software / Classes .Mp3 , Enter a new string value to reflect the values noted below. Once added the KLZ AudioFile Player will recognize the stream and be able to playback audio from the archive logs or listen live.
