RSS Capture
The RssFeed2Wire capture in NewsRoom 45 allows for the download, and posting of items referenced by a URL to an RSS feed. Periodically the program will query, and download the configured feeds to post to the NewsRoom 45 server. If the RSS feed happens to be a podcast, the audio items referenced in the podcast will be posted to NewsRoom 45 audio lists.
Installation
Install the "RssFeed2Wire.msi" package on a server, or dedicated capture machine. Accept the default path location for the program. When installation is complete, you will be able to run the program from the desktop icon. You may also wish to add the program to the windows startup folder, so that the program will run automatically if the computer is rebooted, and logged in.
The Main Form
The main form of the program provides program control, configuration, and displays program status.
Help Menu
The help menu contains the following sub-menu items:
- Help - a link to the help document on line
- Open Cache folder - Opens the windows file explorer in the program cache directory for debugging problems.
- Debug Log - Opens the program debug log used for debugging problems
Configuring the program
Launch the configuration dialog from the properties button on the toolbar. The Properties tab of the configuration dialog contains fields required for the operation of the program, and some general options as seen below.
- Server Name - Name or address of the NewsRoom server
- Port - If different than standard port 87. Otherwise blank
- User - The account used by the program to log in.
- Password - The account password.
- Post Wire Alias - The wire queue alias where items will be posted.
- Post Feed Alias - The audio list alias where audio will be posted.
- Feed Retries - Number of retries on Rss feed url before giving up.
- Post Retries - Number of retries on posting to NewsRoom before giving up.
- Enable Logging - Enables detailed logging for the program

Auto Start - indicates the program should begin capture automatically at startup
Note: The audio alias must writable by the user account logging in. It is recommended to use a playlist alias for this value. The playlist alias configured will need the "OverWrite" attribute defined in its alias configuration
Configuring the RSS Feeds
The Feeds tab of the configuration dialog contains a list of feeds to be captured by the program.

Rss Capture - Feed Properties
- Display Name - Name used to refer to the feed
- Feed Url - The Url of the Feed
- Category - NewsRoom wire category
- Priority - NewsRoom priority code
- Audio Uri - custom location to file audio for this feed.
