AudioFile System Overview
KLZ AudioFile consists of three primary programs Server Player and Monitor At the heart of the system is AudioFile Server a multichannel audio recording engine packaged to run on a dedicated PC or IP Appliance AudioFile ServerTM provides very reliable longterm recording of numerous audio sources including silence detection and precise playback delay for each source being recorded A variety of audio player clients and IO interfaces make AudioFile ideal for many Radio applications.
- Audio Logger MP3 Audio archive for general use or for licensing and liability purposes
- Precise AudioGPI Delay for rebroadcasts or time zone shifting with local insertions
- Remote Access to many stations content for PDs WebServer and MP3 Streaming
- Mic Skimming IO box required for talent quality checks or the competition
- WebLinks for simple browser access to time specific andor live events
- Options will likely grow to include those of the KLZ VideoLogger such as
- WebPortal for sales staff a simple means of reviewing contract obligations for immediate results Quickly access ads that have run the clients or possibly examples to draw in new prospects at their office

KLZ Innovations long history of producing 247 media recording and editing products suggests the best way for our software to run endlessly is to install it on a reliable computer and keep people off of it By packaging the Player and Monitor programs as clients with a lower priority the AudioFile Servers primary functions cannot be affected by users

AudioFile Server
AudioFile Server continuously records multiple audio source and can play those sources at a specific delay When equipped the delays can also be applied to GPIs to accommodate automatic local insertions or alternate program material
All audio is recorded in linear PCM format at 48kHz sampling The AudioFile in standard configuration permits delays of two seconds to four hours The output is the same 48kHz linear PCM file The delay system can be setup in combinations of mono and stereo and each source may have a unique delay period Provided the server is has adequate time sync to a reliable source delay accuracies better than 10ms can be expected for the audio and approximately 30ms for GPIs
In addition the server includes:
- Silence detection on each channel
- MP3 Audio Logging and Archive Management
- Multirate MP3 Streaming real time monitoring
- KLZ Web Server Technology
KLZ has also developed a simple protocol for accessing AudioFile Server to facilitate unique requirements web link utilities and third party developments.

AudioFile Player
AudioFile Player can play audio in three modes Monitor Skim and Archive logger The Player can be installed on any computers with LAN WAN or Internet access to the Recorder PC Numerous players can be run at the same time without affecting the recorder or time delayed playback These key functions are on a thread with the highest priority The Player and Monitor are of lower priority and if too many access it at the same time they may hear audio dropouts These dropouts are not part of the audio being recorded or audio delay playback.
- Users first connect to the logger open a player or two and then
- listen to the incoming streams in near realtime
- previewplay segments of the archived audio
- extract selective portions of the audio archive as MP3 files
AudioFileTM Monitor is the third primary software component.
The monitor continually reports the system status Visual cues alerts display any concerns with any AudioFile or the connected audio sources.
