1 System Configuration
NewsRoom 4.5 configuration has been centralized into one control application named NfsAdmin.exe. This application allows the system administrator to review licensing connections/usage, configure the "NetFileShare.exe" service, and manage NewsRoom users and databases.
2. The NfsAdmin Program
After the NewsRoom Server MSI has been installed, a desktop icon will be available on the server desktop providing access to the system configuration program. When this program is run for the first time the user will be prompted for initial configuration information and a license file.
To begin the basic setup, double click the 'NewsRoom Server' shortcut on the desktop.
3. Initial Configuration
Proceed with the steps provided in the article NfsAdmin Initial Configuration. .
After completion most of the settings required to run NewsRoom 4.5 have been given an initial setting.
4. Nfsadmin Overview
With the NfsAdmin program running for the first time we can now continue with system configuration. See the document NfsAdmin Overview for an explanation of the program layout. The document NfsAdmin - Startup Validation describes in detail the system validation performed each time the NfsAdmin program is launched.
5. Installing NewsRoom Services
We now need to install the NewsRoom services. This is done from the tools menu of the NfsAdmin Program. by Installing the services. For information regarding manual installation refer to Installing the services manually
6. Starting the system services.
With the services installed we will now start the installed services. See starting the services
7. Installing the NewsRoom 45 Client
Follow the instructions in the document NewsRoom Client Installation . You can now test the NewsRoom client for the first time.
8. Configuring Storage
Storage configuration for NewsRoom 45 databases is provided from the NewsRoom menu of the NfsAdmin program.
See the section on the NewsRoom menu in the NfsAdmin Overview .
9. - Alias Configuration
Once storage has been configured for NewsRoom 45 it must be made available to NewsRoom clients by making the appropriate aliases for the NetFileShare.exe service. As content is accessed though this service we must have the appropriate aliases configured. During initial configuration most of the required aliases from NewsRoom will have been made by default. However, additional configuration will sometimes be required when adding new aliases or user groups.
