Installing a 32 bit service on a 64 bit O/S
Legacy 32-bit services do not run when installing them on a 64-bit operating system. This is due to the 32-bit values, and registry entries being contained in a new, and different part of the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432node .
We have found this issue with XP Pro, 2003, or 2008 64 bit servers.
32-bit programs, and 64-bit programs that are running on an x64-based version of Windows operate in different modes, and use the following sections in the registry:
Native mode 64-bit programs run in Native mode, and access keys and values that are stored in the following registry sub key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software . This is where we normally find the entries for the KLZ services, check and you will find them here after installing them.
32-bit programs run in WOW64 mode and access keys and values that are stored in the following registry sub key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432node . KLZ services will not be found here and will not run until a new entry is manually inserted.
Create the entries in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432node, mirror the entry from Software key, and the services will find the settings and run !
